A Source of Inspiration

I took a few minutes this evening to browse by some of the blogs that I have links to, something I haven't done in a while since my time has been limited somewhat and I've wanted to focus primarily on my writing rather than other things. I'm glad I took the time to do this! I was amazed at the progress I saw on several authors' blogs. Where they were writing manuscripts before, they have finished them now. Where they were editing them before, they are sending them out now. Where they had one story, now they have two, or three, or several more. Where they were self-published, they now have publishing contracts! It's very inspiring, telling me to buckle down and achieve COMPLETION with my own work!

Check out the links to other authors' blogs in the sidebar to the right, and best wishes for making progress with your own work!

Hi again Adrian, Yes it's a really good thing to network with the other writers here on blogspot. It is encouraging and inspiring to see how others are progressing, the problems they face (like we all do) and the way they tackle the art of writing. I've had to take a break from the novel to market-research for travel writing and stopped to write three new travel stories (another on Chile in the works). But I hope by next week I'll be back on track with the novel again. So close to finishing it!

Hi, Wynn! Nice of you to stop by! I am always amazed when I visit your blog. Not only do you write well, but you find such interesting things to write about! Good luck with your current travel writing projects, and best wishes for your novel!

Hello,

Thanks for linking to me. I will link to you right away. I think it is great to meet other writers and talk about the craft we love.

Best of luck with your novel,

Sara

Hi, found your blog via Pendrifter. I see you write a Viking-ish Fantasy novel with a gay MC - count me as one of your future readers. :)

Btw, is the guy in your avatar Antinous?

Hi, Sara and Gabriela! Thank you each for visiting my blog.

I checked out your blog, Sara, and enjoyed the poetry. Also, I think it's cool that you have a blog sharing the work of an online writing group. I'll add a link as soon as I update the template again.

Gabriele, it's cool that you like the genre of my first novel, THE REFLECTING STONE, which is a Viking-ish fantasy novel. I just need to finish the editing work, but that's quite a huge task still. Knowing there is someone out there who would enjoy reading it will certainly encourage me to keep at it and get it done!

BTW, the image is me in another lifetime, when I lived in a parallel universe, one where people were made of stone and had no pockets to hold bus tokens or disposable cameras. We didn't travel much, but we got around in other ways too fantastic to mention.

PS, the short answer is "Und woher kennst du das?" -- but when I checked out your blog, it was quite clear you also love the ancient world! ("Und deine Geschichten finde ich auch sehr interessant! Viel Glueck mit den Projekten!") I'll be sure to link to your site as well when I update the Template!

Your German is very good. :)

I researched Hadrian for Caledonia Defiant and thus came across Antinous as well. He won't appear in the novel which takes place before he and Hadrian met, but I remember him because I have a soft spot for gay relationships. One of the MCs inEndangered Frontiers has a male lover.

Sometimes, characters turn all slashy on me. Not so fun when they are historical characters. There's no way that Arminius and Germanicus were lovers (friends during the Pannonian wars maybe) but tell them that. ;) In the end I wrote a scene just to get it out of my system. Fanfiction of my own novel, lol.

Faszinierend, Gabriele! Jetzt muss ich selber Antinous forschen. Ich bin neugierig, wer er war, und was er in seinem Leben geschafft hat. Ich kenne nur sein Bild und seinen Namen.

And I look forward to reading more of your blog! I like stories that deal with antiquity. History is so fascinating.
